NHS 10-year health plan and winter wellbeing events

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 20 winter wellbeing and NHS 10 year plan events! So far, we have heard from over 1,600 local people through our events or online survey. A big shout out to local health and wellbeing partners who came along to our events to provide health checks and advice.

Improving services to ensure we’re caring where it matters

In Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, we have started to change by bringing more treatment closer to home and making the most of the latest technology and new ideas.

We’re improving access to urgent medical care locally 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so people will get the care they need in a timely way and our older people will have a better experience of care, supported to remain healthy and independent for longer.

We are prioritising bringing more care closer to where people live, offering more community services, digital solutions such as our mobile x-ray car service, and placing more focus on preventing or delaying people getting long term illnesses or when they do, helping them to carry on living well.

This will help reduce the strain on our acute hospitals, so we can focus on emergency care and reduce the time people spend waiting for planned care.

We want people of all ages to have care that best meets their needs with everyone having easier access and getting the best results possible. Our plans also include the development of integrated neighbourhood teams, increasing support for people’s mental health and improvements in care for people at the end of life.

The changes we have started to make will help each of us have more influence over how and when we access services and give everyone a chance for better health.

We’ve shaped our local health and care plans based on what we have heard through conversations with over 10,000 local people and we’re committed to driving forward important developments that will ensure we are caring where it matters and providing better, faster, safe care for everyone.

That’s why we are playing our part in the launch of the consultation for the 10-Year Health Plan alongside the government, and we want to hear from you: our public, our patients, our staff, our stakeholders and partners, about your NHS story.
