Winter wellbeing tips shared over the 12 Days of Christmas to help communities Stay Well

Local health partners and community organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are coming together this festive season to share practical winter wellbeing tips over the 12 Days of Christmas, supporting residents to look after their health during the colder months.
From Christmas Day (25 December) through to 5 January, a daily wellbeing tip will be shared online, offering simple, supportive ideas to help people stay well physically and mentally throughout winter.
The tips have been developed collaboratively by local NHS partners, voluntary and community organisations, and members of long-term conditions lived-experience groups.
By drawing on professional expertise alongside real-life experience, the social media campaign aims to make winter health advice relatable, inclusive, and grounded in what works for people day to day. Look out for the tips on our Facebook and YouTube accounts, as well as the NHS Cornwall website.
The wellbeing tips will cover a range of themes, including:
- Keeping warm and well at home
- Looking after mental wellbeing during the festive period
- Managing long-term conditions in winter
- Staying connected and reducing isolation
- Knowing when and how to access the right health support
- Planning ahead by ordering repeat prescriptions early and keeping a well-stocked medicine cabinet
- Getting vaccinated against flu and COVID-19 if eligible, to reduce the risk of serious illness
- Choosing the right service for your needs, including NHS 111, community pharmacies, GP practices, and urgent care services
The 12 Days of Christmas messages align with NHS Cornwall’s “Stay Well this winter” campaign for 2025, which encourages people to take small, proactive steps to protect their health following suggestions from ‘winter wellness everyday champions’. This year’s champions are members of the public who have their own great ideas on how to stay well.
