Final summer wellbeing festival at Newquay Orchard

Newquay Orchard is the host for the finale of the NHS’s summer wellbeing festivals on Saturday 21 September as part of their annual fayre.

The free family friendly event runs between 10am and 3pm with a great mix from workshops, games, crafts, activities, entertainment and incredible food to market stalls, bio-blitzing, as well as a real life mermaid. 

Entertainment at the festival is from 4Motion Cornwall, SproutSpoken, St Agnes Kazookulule Club, CHAOS Radio, Imagine Outdoors Together CIC providing outside nature based children activities, Healthy Cornwall providing sport taster sessions and Better Leisure Newquay bringing along their rowers and other games.

Organisations attending to promote their services or health and wellbeing advice include Eden Project Communities, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, YEP!, Newquay Male Voice Choir, Friends of Newquay Hospital, Emmaus Community Trees, AgeUK, Smarter Smiles, Cornwall Council, Together for Families, ArtsWell, Dance Centred, Young People Cornwall and Healthwatch Cornwall. Food and drink stalls are also available on the day.

Lucy Tuson, Director of Engagement and Communications for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, said: “The line up for the final summer wellbeing festival at Newquay Orchard is going to be fantastic! With music, have a go sports, fun family activities and a real life mermaid – there is something for everyone planned!

“With great advice from local health and wellbeing organisations to the chance to have a free NHS health check – we encourage everyone to come along and see what support is available to help you live your best life.”

Jenny Hindson, Chief Operating Officer at Newquay Orchard says: “This is a chance to showcase the amazing community space that has been built by our wonderful volunteers for our community, who can find out about the support we provide to promote learning, health, and wellbeing for everyone. We’re so excited to see you there.”

Nearly 2000 people have attended the summer wellbeing festivals that have taken place in Bude, Redruth, St Austell, Penzance, Launceston, Hayle, Camborne and Wadebridge.

The festivals are part of our ‘Healthier Together’ campaign with Healthy Cornwall, working together with a number of local voluntary and community partners to deliver the summer series of festivals.
