Healthy Cornwall provide a range of local support
Local Healthy Lifestyles Support Drop In Sessions
These FREE drop-in sessions are a chance for you to catch up with local Health Improvement Practitioners for advice and support on a range of topics involved in improving your health and wellbeing, including:
- Getting an up-to-date weekly weight measurement including muscle mass and BMI
- Healthy weight loss advice and support
- Answers to nutrition queries
- Reviewing food diaries
- Recipe ideas
- Physical activity ideas
- Stop smoking support, tools and resources
- Signposting to other services
Sessions take place regularly in Bodmin, Falmouth, Redruth, St Austell, Liskeard and Launceston
Online – Digital Adult Healthy Weight Programme
This FREE bitesize programme is designed to help adults to begin their weight loss journey and understand how to use the free tools and links provided to support you with longer term weight and healthy lifestyle goals.
The programme runs for 4 weeks and each session is just 30 minutes long.
All sessions are delivered digitally through Microsoft Teams.
A new programme starts each month.

Free walking sessions
A range of free local walks are available to help improve mobility and increase activity levels whilst having a social chat with other people in your area and our friendly staff members. All levels are welcome.
From Bump to Buggy Walks, Family Wellbeing Walking Groups and adult walks – at various locations across Cornwall.
Argyle FIT – Men’s Weight Loss Football League
A hugely successful men’s weight loss football league, in partnership with Plymouth Argyle Community Trust. A fun, light-hearted league where both winning games and losing weight can help your team climb the table.
Currently running in several locations throughout Cornwall: Penzance, Camborne
Bodmin and St.Austell. These sessions are a great way to get active, improve fitness and lose weight; all whilst having some decent banter and a laugh with a group of lads with similar goals.
Couch to 5K – Beginner Running Sessions
Get support to start running and build up to run for 30 minutes with Healthy Cornwall’s new free 12 week running programme. This starts with an easy walk-and-talk session and slowly builds up to 30 minutes of running.
Salty Swims – Sea Swimming Group
A free sea swimming group in association with Salty Swims. A relaxed and welcoming group. Suitable for those who can swim but would like advice and support from trained coaches on how to embrace cold water swimming and all of its physical and mental health benefits. Join the team in Penzance every Friday and other groups run across Cornwall

Active Cornwall
Active Cornwall promotes the benefits of incorporating movement and physical activity into everyday life, focusing on those most in need of support. By working in partnership and with a focus on children, young people and older adults, they support those who need the most help to move more.

NHS Digital Weight Management Programme
Available for people with diabetes, high blood pressure (or both) and who have a BMI greater than 30. The BMI threshold is lowered to 27.5 for those from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds. NHS staff do not need high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes to access this programme.
NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme
Available in many areas across Cornwall if you are aged 18 to 65, have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes within the last 6 years and have a BMI over 27 kg/m2 (for people from White ethnic groups) or over 25 kg/m2 (for people from Black, Asian and other ethnic groups). Individuals who are interested in joining the programme can discuss their individual circumstances with their GP or diabetes team at their next appointment to find out whether it is suitable for them. Adults can access the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme if they have had a blood test in the last year that shows they are at risk of diabetes. Find more information on diabetes support.
